The spring checklist: waking your RV up the right way

The first warm weekend is when winter damage shows itself — or does not, if you spend one careful hour before the first trip. Here is the order we use in the shop.

Water first

Flush the antifreeze, sanitize the fresh tank, and pressurize the system slowly while someone watches every fitting. A winter crack announces itself the moment pressure hits it, and you want to be standing next to it when it does.

Then seals, tires, batteries

Walk the roof and every seam with good light. Check tire date codes, not just tread. Load-test the batteries instead of trusting the gauge. None of it is hard — it is just easier to skip than it should be.
